Overview
Kedarnath and Badrinath, two iconic pilgrimage destinations nestled in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India, are revered by millions of Hindus worldwide for their profound spiritual significance and breathtaking natural beauty. Kedarnath, perched at an altitude of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level, is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Legend has it that the temple was initially built by the Pandavas, the heroes of the Indian epic Mahabharata. Surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks and the gushing Mandakini River, Kedarnath offers a serene ambiance for devotees seeking divine blessings and spiritual solace.
Badrinath, situated at an elevation of 3,133 meters (10,279 feet), is dedicated to Lord Vishnu in his form as Badrinath. Adorned with vibrant colors and intricate carvings, the temple stands amidst the picturesque landscape of the Himalayas, with the Alaknanda River flowing nearby. Pilgrims believe that a visit to Badrinath purifies the soul and bestows divine grace.
Both Kedarnath and Badrinath attract devotees from far and wide, who embark on the sacred journey to seek blessings and offer prayers. The pilgrimage season typically spans from April to November, during which pilgrims brave rugged terrain and challenging weather conditions to experience the spiritual aura and natural splendor of these revered sites.
